Welcome to the Gender Resource Centre

THE GENDER RESOURCE CENTER

The Gender Resource Centre (GRC) is a pioneering digital platform innovated and owned by CRAWN Trust that has several components to it among them an online WROs directory of mapped women's rights organisations across the 47 counties of Kenya. Launched in 2021, the GRC was established to bridge the information gap in the women’s rights space and to promote visibility and connectivity among grassroots and national-level women’s organizations.

To date, the platform hosts a comprehensive listing of over 1,400 WROs, making it one of the most expansive and inclusive directories of its kind in the country. These organizations represent a wide spectrum of focus areas including gender equality, women’s economic empowerment, climate justice, leadership and political participation, peacebuilding, and community development.

The GRC is more than just a directory, it is a vital resource for networking, knowledge sharing, collaboration, and capacity building. It provides stakeholders such as donors, researchers, policymakers, civil society actors, and activists with an invaluable tool to identify, connect with, and support women-led and women-serving organizations in Kenya.

By enhancing the discoverability of WROs, especially those working at the grassroots level, the GRC strengthens the women’s rights movement by promoting partnerships, facilitating learning opportunities, and driving joint advocacy initiatives. It also enables organizations to showcase their work, access relevant opportunities, and contribute to shaping a more coordinated and inclusive gender agenda at the local and national level.

Ultimately, the Gender Resource Centre plays a critical role in amplifying the voices of women and girls across Kenya. It ensures that their efforts, struggles, and successes are not only visible but are actively supported in the ongoing quest for gender justice and equitable development.
